Governance

About Us – Governance Structure

At Thames Learning Trust, we are committed to delivering exceptional educational experiences across our family of schools. Our governance structure ensures strong accountability, strategic oversight, and local engagement, all of which are essential to maintaining high standards and supporting continuous improvement.

The Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees, who are responsible for setting the strategic direction, monitoring performance, and ensuring financial probity across all of our schools. The Board brings together individuals with diverse expertise in education, finance, legal affairs, and leadership, enabling robust and informed decision-making.

To support effective governance at the school level, each academy within the Trust is supported by a Strategy Group. These groups play a vital role in providing challenge and support to school leaders, monitoring the implementation of school improvement plans, and fostering strong relationships within the local community. While operating within the Trust’s overall framework, each Strategy Group retains a clear focus on the distinct needs and priorities of their individual school.

The Trust’s executive leadership team, led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), works closely with school leaders to ensure that educational standards are consistently high and that resources are used effectively. The CEO is accountable to the Board of Trustees and oversees the operational management of the Trust.

Together, our governance structure promotes transparency, accountability, and a shared vision of excellence across all our schools.  Further details are available in the Trust Constitution.

All Members, Trustees and Local Advisory Board members are expected to sign the Trust Governance Code of Conduct and adhere to the 7 principles of public life.
